When Head Coach Chuck Knox took over the team in 1983, the first player he picked up was a guy he traded up from the ninth pick in the draft to #3 overall to select Curt Warner. In his very first run, he broke a 60-yard touchdown. It was the start of a huge first season by Warner helped lead the Seahawks all the way to the AFC Championship against the Los Angeles Raiders team that went on to win the Super Bowl.

Warner's promising career was severely impacted the following year when he tore his ACL early on in the season. Seattle made it to the playoffs, but lost once again to the team that would go on to represent the AFC. As a running back who had everything including power, shiftiness, and breakaway speed, Warner was added into the Seahawks Ring of Honor is 1994.
