The 2018 NFL season is here, players are reporting to training camp and we're working toward wrapping up our Know Your Rival Series. The second of three installments is a discussion with Oscar from the Better Rivals Podcast, our longest tenured rival, joining the show to talk about the San Francisco 49ers offseason. Before we get to it, we briefly discuss Earl Thomas and his likely holdout.

The 49ers are a team that seems to be on the rise. Having traded for a franchise quarterback and closing out the 2017 season with a 6-game winning streak, it seems as though San Fran is once again the competitive rival that Seahawks fans got used to in the Harbaugh era. It's clear that 49ers fans are starting to feel some excitement again. The guys discuss some of the free agent acquisitions and draft picks from the offseason as well as some of the contract decisions that bring up questions about the team's front office.

These two teams have clear areas of the team where talent at particular position groups are stronger than the opponent. But what about areas like offensive line, wide receiver, running back and defensive backs? The guys debate which areas of the team are strongest and where there are some questions marks between the two clubs.

With an abbreviated show, we close out the show with a discussion about Richard Sherman's latest comments and how little we should be surprised to hear his responses in a recent Sports Illustrated article. Better at life honors go to a new employee who went through extraordinary lengths to make it to work on his first day and the response from the company's CEO. Tony Miles, runner up in the World Series of Poker, also earns top honors on the show.
